Is there more to Life than This?

We are starting an Alpha course at Coads Green Methodist Church on Tuesday 9th January 2018. Alpha is for anyone who wants to know more about the Christian faith. The evenings are designed around a meal and encourage conversation as we explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. No question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much, or as little as you wish.

If you are interested in coming then please contact either: Linda Medland 01566 782251 or Rev’d Jo Smart 01566 782921 so that we can sort out numbers for catering.

If you need transport or a babysitter, please let us know when you contact us and we can arrange that for you. Alpha starts Tuesday 9th January 2018 at 6:30 pm at Coads Green Methodist Church. Food is served at 6:45 pm.

Coads Green Lunch Club

Coads Green buzzes with excitement on the first Friday of the month. Thirty two ladies and gents meet together for lunch club in Coads Green Chapel Parlour, when everyone is treated to a main course such as Chicken crumble or maybe Roast Pork with vegetables, potatoes and lashings of gravy. Follow that with a choice of two desserts, fruit crumble and custard or cream, or a lemon cheesecake are amongst the favourites, then cheese and biscuits, followed by a nice cup of tea and sweet biscuit. The meals are all home cooked in our wonderfully equipped Chapel parlour kitchen and has been run by a faithful group of local ladies for the last 11 years. All this and only £5 and no washing up to do!
Because of holidays and illness we often have a couple of spare chairs so why not give us a ring to see if there's room. It may be possible to get one of the other members to offer transport.
Lots of chatter, laughter and sharing and a great home cooked lunch, what more could anyone want.

Coads Green Methodist Church Harvest Festival

Our harvest thanksgiving celebrations got underway on Friday September 22nd with the decorating of the chapel using harvest produce and flowers depicting harvest hymns. These hymns had thoughtfully been selected by Averil Lashbrook.

It was amazing to see the wonderful way in which individuals and families, who are connected with the chapel, portrayed each hymn. What started out to be simply decorating using harvest hymns, turned out to be more like a mini flower festival.

At 10 o'clock on Sunday morning, Marilyn Butter was sat at the organ striking up the first notes of her 10 hour organ playing marathon, which included the 11am & 6-30pm service. £510 was raied for our chapel organ fund. Neil Burden led the morning family service & received the Sunday School and Young People's harvest gifts.

Fellowship continued throughout the day with a bring & share lunch, cakes and cream teas, as people admired the displays and listened to the melodious organ music.

Mike Stephens led the evening Songs of Praise, when we sang the hymns that had been portrayed in the displays. Philip Medland led our Monday night thanksgiving service. Following the service, Graham Tucker auctioned the gifts that were left after we had given to Launceston food bank and to those who, for various reasons, cannot worship with us.
